On Monday, we will be starting a program called Fin's Friends. It is sponsored by the Canucks and helps kids to learn social responsibility. We will be reading a number of books given to us and each day a child will be bringing a Fin stuffy home. Students will be chosen on their C.A.T.S. behaviour. Students will be asked to write in a journal what they do with Fin. It is important that Fin comes back the following day, so that each child has equal time with Fin.
Over the past month students have been allowed to eat their snacks during class time because of the number of wasps and to help adjust to Grade 2 expectations. Starting Monday, students will be eating their recess snacks outside. During lunch, students are given 20 minutes to eat their food. We will be asking students to pack up at the second bell, which is 12:33. Please help encourage your child to use their eating time to eat. Many students have been stretching their eating time until almost 12:50.

Thank you to the parents who have been able to drive for our last 2 field trips. We truly can not go on trips without the help of parents who volunteer their time. We truly appreciate your support. We have a few more field trips scheduled throughout the year. Some of these trips limit the number of adults due to space and we appreciate parent volunteers who are able to drive multiple students.
Students began using the Raz-kids website today. Each child was given a password and practiced logging in. Your child has access to the program at home. It is a free Ipad app or on a computer. Please have your child practice reading using this program. Students need to have a pair of headphones or earbuds to use the school computers. It helps the children to hear their stories and questions easily and reduces the background noise for other kids.
Cold and flu season has hit our class early. Please help your child review healthy hand washing routines. We had a nurse visit our class and talk about healthy hand washing and how to limit germs by coughing and sneezing into our elbows. It is important for your child to rest if they have been vomiting, running a fever or display cough and cold symptoms.
